The Clan Donald Lands Trust’s annual Scottish Harp competition, the Princess Margaret of the Isles Prize for Senior Clarsach (UK), will be held online this year for the first time.
Convenor John Purser will host the event live from the museum at Armadale Castle, accompanied by lead adjudicator Gillian Fleetwood. This year’s finalists are: Karen Marshalsay, Pippa Reid-Foster, Fraya Thomsen and Loreleï Tochet.
The live broadcast will be combined with filmed performances from four finalists and streamed at 2pm on Saturday 12 June.
The event will be free to watch and streamed on our Facebook page. After the event it will be available to watch again on Facebook and Vimeo, where you can also watch films of the 2018 and 2019 competitions.
The winner will receive a cash prize and the opportunity to play at the 2022 Edinburgh International Harp Festival. Specially for 2021 we have introduced two additional prizes for composition: The Patrick McDonald Memorial Prize for Best Adaptation; and the John, Lord of the Isles, Memorial Prize for Best New Composition.
