Permanent, full time. Some weekend work required.
£19,000 – £22,000 depending on experience
Do you have museum, heritage or gallery experience? Are you looking for your next career challenge? We are seeking a creative, enthusiastic and well-organised museum professional to join the team at one of Skye’s leading visitor attractions.
You will play an integral role in both the operations and development of our museum, which is accredited by Museum Galleries Scotland. This will include cataloguing collections, caring for objects, curating annual exhibitions and contributing to the museum’s events and learning programmes. You will also assist with visitor enquiries and deputise for the Museum Manager, supervising other staff and volunteers as required.
The Museum of the Isles at Armadale Castle tells the story of the Highlands & Islands through the eyes of Clan Donald, Scotland’s largest and most powerful clan. Our collections include Viking, Jacobite and crofting artefacts alongside many notable artworks and manuscripts. We also have an extensive library and archive. This is an exciting time in our development as we approach the 50th anniversary of the Clan Donald Lands Trust – the charity that owns and manages the museum and wider estate – and look to realise our ambitious vision for the future.
The successful candidate will have a degree and experience of working in a museum, heritage centre or gallery. You will also hold a museum or heritage qualification or be willing to work towards one. You will have an interest in Scottish history and a knowledge of how to care for object/artwork collections.
Clan Donald Lands Trust employees enjoy a range of benefits including discount in our café and shops. Rental accommodation may be available.
