The annual Battle of Culloden commemorations will take place on Saturday 13 April 2019 at the Culloden Battlefield.
All are welcome to join the procession from the Visitor Centre at 10.30. The Gaelic Society of Inverness service will take place at 11am at the Main Cairn. Afterwards, the Clan Donald group will gather behind Piper Sandy MacDonell – and the banners of the Chief of Glengarry, the Clan Donald Society of the Highlands and Islands and of the Clan Donald Lands Trust – to march to the Clan Donald Stones, give reverence and lay wreaths.
Afterwards a lunch will take place at the Drumossie Hotel; this is a formal, individually-seated event for which booking is essential. For more information and to book please download the form from this page (right).
The lunch this year will be hosted by the Chief of Glengarry, with Lady Glengarry. An appropriate piobaireachd will be played and this year’s guest speaker is Dr Margaret Bennett, the well-known ethnographer and folklorist. The whole event has been organised for the past 32 years by Lois MacDonell of Glengarry, who may be contacted with enquiries.
