Ranald MacDonell of Glengarry (1941-2021)

We are very sorry to announce the death of Aeneas Ranald Euan MacDonell of Glengarry, 23rd Chief of Glengarry, on 30 January 2021.

Ranald succeeded his late Father as a Hereditary Trustee at Clan Donald Lands Trust. He gave much valuable service to the Trust over the years. We are grateful for his support, friendship and wise counsel, especially with regard to the updating of the Trust’s Constitution. He was a good and trusted friend of Armadale and will be greatly missed.

Our thoughts are with his wife Carolyn, daughters Fiona Jane and Victoria Ann, and other members of his family.

Funeral announcement

We would also like to take this opportunity to share the following funeral announcement from the family:

The small and private cremation service for Ranald MacDonell of Glengarry, 23rd Chief, will take place on Monday, 1 March at 1.15 p.m. The family would be so grateful if you could take a few moments during that day to remember Ranald. It is hoped that there will be a much larger memorial service of some kind once the Covid restrictions are lifted, whenever that might be.

Donations in lieu of flowers may be given to St Catherine’s Hospice, where Ranald received such excellent care during the last week of his life and where even a small donation would be put to good use.
