Remembering Robert McDonald Parker

Posted on: 27th August 2021

It is with great sadness that the Clan Donald Lands Trust has learned of the death of Robert McDonald Parker, who was International Director of CDLT from 1979 to 1999.

Over two decades Rob’s energetic contributions paved the way for the continuing developments at Armadale. He was committed to the idea that Armadale and Skye could become a base for all of Clan Donald, and his dedication to and knowledge of the Clan is much remembered and admired. His legacy at Armadale is secured through his many accomplishments during his time as International Director and his work within the local community.  Under Rob’s leadership the key assets now enjoyed at Armadale were developed. This included the restoration of the Stables and the growth of the visitor centre, not forgetting the original library in his office and assistance with the return of the Macdonald Estate Papers to Skye. Rob’s talent for fostering relationships and encouraging this growth were vital to both Clan Donald Lands Trust and to all connected with the Clan.

He is remembered fondly by current and retired staff and trustees, and our thoughts are with his family.
