Scottish Performing Arts Classic

This Saturday, 30 April, we invite you to tune in to an afternoon of world-class music live streamed from North America.

The 2nd annual Scottish Performing Arts Classic will take place in Charleston, South Carolina, USA. The event is a collaboration between Clan Donald Lands Trust and the Robert Burns Society of Charleston, in cooperation with the St James Academy of the Arts.

The event takes place at 9am – 5.30pm EDT (2 – 10.30pm BST) at St James Anglican Church in Charleston. It will be live streamed and available to watch around the world on the Saint James Church Charleston YouTube channel.

The day is composed of three separate world-class competitions with competitors coming from both Canada and the United States:

  • 9-11am EDT: The Senior Clarsach (Harp) competition for the Princess Margaret of the Isles Memorial Prize – North America
  • 12.30-2.30pm EDT: The Senior Scottish Fiddle competition for the Dan R. MacDonald Memorial Prize
  • 3.30-5:30pm EDT: The Piobaireachd competition (Scottish Bagpipe) for the Joseph MacDonald Memorial Prize.

Each competition will have four candidates and each will compete in front of a world class judge. It promises to be a day of beautiful music with incredible international competitors.
