With views over to the mainland as well as to the iconic Cuillin mountain range, our sheltered seaside position and mild climate provide the best of both Highland worlds: epic mountain scenery and soft, wooded glens between pretty crofting townships. It is no surprise that Sleat is a very popular holiday destination.
Our Isle of Skye holiday accommodation offers six self-catering cabins, one heritage apartment and one estate cottage all situated within the wooded policies of Armadale Castle. Our cosy, well-equipped four-star properties draw guests back time and again. Wake up to witness sunrise over the mountains of Knoydart, and watch local creel boats fishing in the Sound of Sleat. White-tailed eagles glide overhead, while native red deer graze in the fields nearby. You can spend your day wandering in our famous gardens and surrounding woodlands, visit the local grocery shop to pick up fresh supplies, and take an evening stroll to the pub for a supper of incredible food.
With recently refurbished interiors and ideal location near Armadale Pier, our properties are perfect for couples, families and groups. Many of our properties are also dog-friendly, and our wider estate is available for extended walks. Kate Hames20/06/2022From the start this accommodation was great. I needed to change our booked dates and they very kindly allow me to do so. We arrived on Tuesday evening, off the ferry, which docks less than 2 minutes drive away. The loadges are beautiful, well equipped, and the views are to die for. They beds are comfortable, the lodges themselves were cosy but spacious. We didn't have great weather so we couldn't make use of the terrace unfortunately but we still had a fabulous week. We were given a bottle of wine and milk which was very well received. Everything was clean and tidy. Overall it was a great stay! We had a couple of things which were disappointing, hut nothing drastic. We'd read on other reviews that when others had arrived with dogs that they were given dog beds, biscuits and water bowls, we didn't receive any of this. Dogs weren't allowed in the bedrooms either, which isn't very dog friendly. And we were asked to remove any trace of dog hair from the lodge, which isn't something you want to be doing when you've got an 8 hour drive ahead of you and have just had a nice relaxing holiday. I know some people don't mind cleaning after their holiday, but this is a personal gripe of mine. We did, however, do as was asked. Also, we read that we should have had a 10% discount in the gift shop ( we didn't know this until after we'd bought something) but this wasn't offered, even after showing our key to visit the gardens. (Which were absolutely stunning by the way). The free entry into the gardens was fabulous and I highly recommend going there, even if you aren't staying at the lodges, not sure how much it is usually though.Leah Ryan14/02/2022Have just checked out today of our short break at the castle lodges. The castle museum was closed its self but if the lodges are anything to go by then it surely will be amazing! Before travelling, Elizabeth was incredibly helpful over the phone and email while dealing with our booking. We arrived following the east guidance, directions and signs to find a beautiful picturesque view from the drive way of the lodge. Going into the lodge you immediately noticed the smell of how clean they were, carpets and upholstery very clean and a kitchen that provided you with everything you needed, even a bottle of wine and the makings of tea, biscuits, fresh flowers and goodies and a spare bowl and blanket for the dogs ? Small things that really made a difference were things like salt and pepper and cleaning products which usually aren’t included in self catering. The kitchen was fully equipped with a great range of pots, pans and crockery. The sofas and beds were incredibly comfortable. The woodland walks gave lots of exploring to our dogs who loved their experience too. They especially loved looking out of the big sliding doors watching the sheep in the field opposite. The gardens were well kept and area around very clean and looked after. The list of cleaning in the guest file really shows how well the place is looked after and cleanliness is to a very high standard which is very reassuring given the current pandemic.
